CBD Tinctures: Understanding Your Dose

CBD Tinctures: Understanding Your Dose

Most CBD users are not aware of how much CBD they take. Imagine if that were true of any over-the-counter medication, prescription drug, or homeopathic remedy?

Of course, it’s not their fault. Many brands include instructions like “one dropper-full” or ‘“10 drops.” Neither of those counts as a quantifiable dose. What matters most is the amount of active ingredients, measured in milligrams (mg) taken in a serving size. To know what dose you are actually taking you should read the information on your bottle and do some simple math.

- Check the product label to see how many milligrams of CBD are in the full bottle. Oils are commonly sold in 15ml, 30ml, or 60ml bottles, with 30ml bottles being the most common.

- Divide the total milligrams of CBD by the number of milliliters in the bottle

Example: 1500mg of CBD in a 30ml bottle means that there is 50mg of CBD in every milliliter.

This is why our oils include a graduated dropper with .25ml, .50ml, .75ml and 1ml marks, so that it's easy to measure your dose. In the example above, .25ml will have 12.5mg of CBD.
